of Operas in a classical marionette version
- The most successful
performance since 1991
Mozart
composed the opera of operas, Don Giovanni, especially for Prague, where he personally
conducted its first performance in 1787 at the Estates Theatre (Stavovske
theatre). At present the Prague dramatic repertoire offers a version of
classical marionette theatre using period costumes and tall marionettes.
This production pays homage to the Mozart period and atmosphere in the form
of an authentic 18th century performance. Don Giovanni which has had over 2200
performances since 1991 is presented in the original Italian version and lasts about
two hours.

Taking full advantage of the
possibilities of marionette theatre, black light theatre and visual magic,
this playful perfomance will draw you into an imaginary world a wonderful
world where music triumphs over evil and hate. This theatre production is
inspired by the 1968 animated film of the legendary English group The
Beatles guarantee the experience will be a pleasent
one.

This project relies on the unique spirit of Prague baroque culture. It combines period's music, architecture, fine arts as well as the superior craftsmanship of opera staging practice of that time.
The stage is designed as a replica of the baroque stage machinery (on a bases of an accurate reconstruction) and the performance is using all its visual effects and technical "miracles". The action is performed by actors in period costumes, who are in front of the audience simultaneously operating with marionettes and running an ingenious mechanism. Performance is in original Italian version and lasts about 90 minutes.
